LADWP reported 16,000 customers still without power five days into the January 2025 emergency
At 7 a.m. on January 12, 2025, LADWP reported about 16,000 customers without electricity, mostly in Pacific Palisades and Brentwood, after cumulatively restoring service to 362,482 customers since the windstorm began. In a later May report, the Food Bank said its two distribution centers had operated without significant constraints.

A Sunday morning snapshot showed ongoing outages
At 7 a.m. on January 12, Los Angeles Department of Water and Power reported that approximately 16,000 of its 1.5 million electric customers remained without power. Most were in the fire-affected Pacific Palisades and Brentwood; Eagle Rock, Hollywood Hills, Encino and Sunland were also experiencing outages. [1]
LADWP said crews had restored power to 362,482 customers since the windstorm began. That figure was cumulative, while the roughly 16,000 figure described customers still without power at 7 a.m. [1]
The outage snapshot and cumulative restoration figure should not be treated as one fixed group. The separate Food Bank center update came later, in May.

Safety and access shaped restoration work
LADWP said crews could not restore power in areas until they were declared safe for restoration work. The update also counted fewer than 20 single-residence outages, down from a peak of more than 1,000. The department defined these as outages affecting one residence because of a location-specific issue. [1]
Food Bank centers kept operating in May
In a May 20 status report, the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank said its distribution centers in South Los Angeles and the City of Industry continued operating without significant constraints. The report covers those two centers’ operations, while individual partner agencies and pickup sites may have had different conditions. [2]
The Food Bank reported distributing 58 million pounds of food and other products, valued at more than $92 million, since January 7. The distribution included ready-to-eat food, water and personal-care items provided through partner agencies, direct drive-through and mobile pantry distributions, and wildfire resource hubs. [2]
The organization also reported that it and its partner network had reached more than 1 million people throughout Los Angeles County on a monthly basis since January, with demand expected to remain elevated for several months. [2]
The reports capture different points in the response
The January update records a utility outage snapshot; the May report describes Food Bank operations and distributions later in the response. LADWP’s outage numbers do not identify the power status of a particular food pickup location, and the Food Bank’s center update concerns its own two distribution centers. [1] [2]
